washing advice
• Wash dark and strongly coloured garments separately the first time, as they may release surplus colour.
• Always wash clothes inside out. This will reduce wear on the garments.
• Button all buttons and empty all pockets before you put the clothes in the washing machine. Zip up any zippers, as this will help prevent wear on other items.
• As far as possible, wash your clothes at lower temperatures. This reduces wear, helps colourful clothes to retain their colours longer, and is better for the environment. We recommend that you wash our clothes at 40º Celsius.
• Always use colour detergent – i.e. detergent that does not contain bleach – to wash coloured clothes. This will keep the colours looking good for longer.
• Use eco-labelled detergent, follow the recommended doses, and – if possible – only wash full loads.
• Using fabric conditioner is good for your clothes – both their fibres and their colours – but not so good for the environment. However, many eco-friendly fabric conditioner are available today, and we recommend that you use one of these.
• Remember that you must never scrub a stain, as this is likely to grind it even more firmly into the fabric. Treat stains as early in the washing process as possible, before you wash the whole garment. If you let a stain dry in, there is a greater risk that you will not be able to wash it out.
• Never tumble-dry garments that contain elastane. This is a heat-sensitive fibre and cannot withstand the high temperatures generated in a tumble-dryer.
• If you dry your clothes outdoors, make sure never to hang them in direct sunlight as this will fade the colours.
